Beware of fake tax transcript emails

SCAM

If you get an email claiming to be from the IRS with an attached tax return transcript file, delete it.

The IRS recently warns that scammers are using this new messaging and attachments to get people to click on the file and infect computers with malware.

Remember that the IRS does not sent unsolicited message to taxpayers, especially sensitive information like a tax return transcript.
